Program Update

Community Services and The Saddleback Valley Unified School District are in the process of choosing an organization to run its Afterschool Program at Los Alisos Intermediate School and the other three intermediate schools across the district.

The good news for parents is that SVUSD could potentially fund these programs, and there may be no costs to attend. The challenge for any provider will be the numbers generated by a free program, and maintaining quality across the district. We have always valued quality over quantity in our endeavors, but could expand our services across the district if given the opportunity.

They are asking for a plan that includes a homework component and daily recreation. The program will run for two hours Monday through Thursday, staring at the end of each school day. This may create challenges for working parents on minimum days, early outs, each Friday, and possibly every day. Our proposal will include solutions for these gaps in care.

Although we have run an extremely successful program at Los Alisos for more than three years, there is no guarantee that we will be chosen as the provider for the location. As soon as we know more, we will update this page and contact any families who have reached out to us regarding programs at Los Alisos.
