This past weekend, one of our after-school students participated in The City of Mission Viejo Arts Alive. This annual weekend-long event promotes and celebrates cultural arts in our community. When we found out that Lauren would be creating a chalk art piece for the event we knew it was going to be great. She is an incredibly gifted artist who can often be found sketching at the center after-school. In addition to her passion for art, Lauren is a great student and one the most polite and respectful youth that frequent our programs.
This is the piece that Lauren worked on with her friends and family. At the event, each group is given a square of asphalt to create a work of art with chalk. This year’s theme was the 1940’s and as you can see they chose to highlight the original Mickey Mouse as Steamboat Willie. It was quite hot during the event and the team worked long and hard to complete the project.
We would like to congratulate Lauren and her team for their fantastic addition to The 2011 Mission Viejo Arts Alive Event.
